Delivering Projects

We deliver alongside our clients

Grid-Scale Energy Storage

Arenko are a market leading developer of battery optimization and automation software and hardware. With Arenko, EGI are building highly available, robust systems for operating batteries in dynamic electricity markets.

Power from Waves

We closely work alongside CalWave Power Technologies, a globally leading developer of wave energy conversion technology. We assist CalWave in delivering several of their US Department of Energy projects, focusing on specialist control and instrumentation support.

Microgrid Software Solutions

BoxPower is a provider of modular microgrid energy solutions. The company has been awarded a $1.2 million California Energy Commission grant to develop its microgrid hardware and software. EGI has partnered with BoxPower as a part of this grant to bring California closer to its sustainable energy goals.

industrial Automation

We are expert developers of industrial embedded software solutions and real-time control systems using MATLAB, Simulink and the Speedgoat RT hardware. Having used MATLAB and Simulink for over a decade, we are one of the MathWorks’ trusted consulting partners.

Floating Offshore Wind

We were recently successful in securing the ARPA-E FOCAL project in collaboration with the University of Maine, NREL and DNV-GL. The FOCAL project is part of the wider  ARPA-E ATLANTIS initiative. Our work on this project will focus on real-time implementation of advanced floating offshore wind control algorithms.

Power Take Off Testing

We support Sandia National Laboratories with control and data acquisition solutions for their recently developed SWEPT lab. This lab is specifically designed to test power take-offs for wave energy converters.

Approved TEAMER Facility

TEAMER accelerates commercialization of marine renewables by providing access to the nation’s best facilities and expertise in order to solve challenges, build knowledge, foster innovation. The TEAMER Facility Networks are representative of the top tier of marine energy testing and expertise facilities in the United States.

International Standardization

We actively support the international standardization of marine renewable energy. Johannes (Evergreen CEO) leads committee MT 62600-103 as part of IEC TC114 and is an active member of the US TC114 Technical Advisory Group. Our work on TC114 is supported via the US Department of Energy and NREL.

Global Metocean Design

We are a trusted subcontractor to DNV-GL, supporting them in a range of Met-ocean studies across the globe. We have worked with the DNV-GL London office for many years, delivering Met-ocean projects to the highest international standards.

Flexible marine energy

The Anaconda Wave Energy Converter by Checkmate SeaEnergy is a truly novel approach to the generation of electricity from ocean waves. EGI was at the core of the development through Stage 2 of the Wave Energy Scotland “Novel Wave Energy Converter” programme. EGI focused the control and instrumentation of the prototype device for tank testing and the numerical modelling of the complex distensible bulge tube.

Making an impact

Impact9 is at the forefront of the design of offshore structures in high energy environments. EGI collaborated closely with Impact9 during a prototype wave energy converter tank testing campaign. We were central to the planning, execution and subsequent data analysis of the project.

CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH

We are collaborating with Sandia National Laboratories and Oregon State University (OSU) to perform control design and testing for the Floating Oscillating Surge Wave Energy Device (FOSWEC). For this, we are working on a cutting-edge digital Twin that includes HIL.
